This great little Bluetooth speaker allows you to play anything that can connect via Bluetooth or the included auxiliary input that allows you to play any mp3 player, DVD player or CD player and even off of your laptop.  Also, it has a built in echo canceling microphone so you can dial or answer on your phone and then talk and have the entire conversation by the speaker.  You can also use your cell phones voice activated dialing for completely hands free calls.

The customers are happy with the clean sound and solid bass the Altec Lansing inMotion SoundBlade puts out.  Take it to a party and play music off of anyone’s phone and it runs off of six AA batteries or the included power adapter when plugged into a power outlet.

The speaker is designed to work with cell phones and they made it possible to with the shield design to prevent the cell phone “buzz” when you’re making calls close to the speaker.  It’s 1 inch thick and is light and easy to carry with you to anyplace you need some music. Turn it on and pair it with your phone and you’re ready to start pumping out your desired music.

On battery power the wireless speaker lasts up to 24 hours on 6AA batteries.  This speaker is so thin that you can slip it into a backpack or even your laptop bag and take it anywhere.

Are you interested in a great sounding mid range system that does not require you to run speaker wire to the rear speakers? That’s correct only the rear speakers are wireless and really those are typically the only ones that you need to be wireless.  The rear speakers do require a power outlet and this is a good thing because they have an amp built in so they’re as loud and as clear as your front speakers are.

The rear speakers are wireless via IR and receive the signal from the front transmitters and man do these speakers look cool.  They have a very modern design and are the high quality you can expect from Sony. The system comes with a 5 disc DVD changer with upconvert technology to enhance your DVDs to near HD resolution. It also comes with an FM receiver with an HDMI port and the DVD player will play an impressive array of disc types that include CD audio, SACD, DVD-R/RW, DVD+R/RW, CD-R/RW, and VCD discs; MP3 and JPEG.

This is a great starter home theatre that will help you get rid of messy cables and of course you won’t have to run those darn speaker wires in the wall or under the carpet.

Checkout some of the specs:

  • HDMI digital interface (selectable 720p or 1080i output)
  • plays DVD-Video, DVD-R & DVD-RW, DVD+R & DVD+RW, SACD, audio CD, CD-R & CD-RW, MP3 CDs, and JPEG picture CDs
  • built-in Dolby® Digital, DTS®, and Dolby Pro Logic® II decoding, for surround sound from DVD, VHS, and stereo sources
  • selectable progressive-scan mode for smoother video with HD-compatible TVs (via the component videooutput)
  • 4-channel amplifier (143 watts x 3, plus 285 watts for subwoofer) built into DVD changer/receiver
  • outboard IR transmitter (for sending audio signals to the wireless rear speakers)

Customer Reviews:

“Other reviewers have done a good job describing the product — the one thing I wanted to touch on was the “wireless” aspect. The only wires this system does not have that other “wired” systems do are the ones that run from the receiver unit to the back speakers…..”

Creative makes great products and the Inspire S2 is one of them. The quality and great performance you get from these wireless speakers will make you happy without a doubt.  These speakers are wireless via Bluetooth and you CAN directly connect your iPhone, iPad (ios 4.2 update & allow volume control from each device) and some Android phones to the speaker system without any special adapters! This makes an awesome party speaker system and if a friend comes over with some new music on his or her phone they can connect and start playing immediately.  Or you could of course run free internet radio like Pandora from your laptop/pc/mac too.  The system does come with a USB device to plug into your pc and send the music over to the speakers.

The 2.1 system is designed for you to use with your computer as great sounding and looking wireless speakers.  The speakers are wirless from the music device, but the two satellite speakers connect to the subwoofer via a small speaker cable.  This is not a big deal as you can simply move all three very easily if needed.

How big are the speakers?

The sub is 8×8
The satellites are 4×3

The right speaker has the volume controls and a button to press for Bluetooth scanning. The power AC brick has a 4’ cable to the sub and around a 12’ DC cable to the wall outlet.  The sub also has it’s own volume control for the bass and will allow you to crank out the base for you dance parties ;)

Also there is a aux port for regular MP3 players or I guess you could even plug in one of those old CD players if your grandma comes over.  In testing some people had noticed that the included Bluetooth adapter seemed to produce a higher sound volume than using an internal built in Bluetooth adapter on some laptops.  Keep that in mind and you might run a test yourself once you have it in your paws.

These Bluetooth wireless speakers look great on your desk and produce a great quality all around sound and are about the best value for the money.  At this time the price is under $130.

This one’s a keeper – even at 900MHz frequency, there’s no perceptible interference from other devices, and the sound remained remarkably steady as I moved the speakers from room to room.”

Rating: ★★★★☆

Price: Under $80

The Creative Labs Xmod wireless music system is a high quality audio system for a reasonable price that plays music off of your PC or MAC to any speakers in your home that your grandma could setup.  Simply plug the transmitter into your pc and plug the Creative Labs Xmod receiver into your home stereo receiver and press play.  As one happy customer said, “The range is great and there is no lag. Plus, it just works.”

The X-Fi system successfully makes your music sound better and enhances the highs/lows and upscales your files to 24 bit quality.  It has its own wireless network that does not touch or interfere with your wifi network.  It’s truly plug and play ready, it does not even have drivers to install on your pc or mac!

Creative Labs Xmod

Creative Labs Xmod Rear

The receiver and transmitter each have a remote and allow you to have full control over your music and current song playing. With the remotes, you can skip tracks, pause tracks, turn on and off the X-Fi features.

The range is up to 100 ft from the transmitter and you can actually add up to four receivers that makes it wonderful for parties.  People will think you’ve spent a fortune wiring your entire house and even out by the pool, but all you’ve done is plop down a wireless receiver and you’ve got music all over the house and yes, even outside.  Of course, if you’re blessed with a larger than average home you can run the transmitter from a laptop you can move it around to reach even the largest homes.

Turns any speakers into wireless speakers.

  • X-Fi technology breathes life into your songs by restoring detail and expanding your music and movies to surround sound.
  • X-Fi Crystalizer technology restores the detail and vibrance to your compressed music and movies. All the highs and lows are intelligently enhanced so you’ll hear everything in crystal clarity.
  • X-Fi CMSS-3D technology expands your stereo MP3s and digital movies into virtual surround stereo speakers or headphones. Voices are centered in front of you and ambient sounds are moved all around you

Customer Reviews:

“The Xmod works great. Easy to set up in the control panel and so far I have been able to connect to three different receivers at the same time including one that is poolside – about 75 feet away outdoors. (I believe the limit is 4 recievers at one time.) I am not sure what will happen if my neighbors start using a set.

I also can play music in my office at the same time by connecting my powered speakers to the audio out of the transmitter. This works great for when we have parties.

Finally, a wireless gizmo that allows me to play music through out my house and outdoors. It is extremely easy to use and sound quality is good.”

Bose SL2 Wireless Surround Link

Bose SL2 wireless surround link

Bose SL2 wireless surround link

Rating: ★★★★☆

User Reviews: 16+

Do you have one of the wonderful Bose 5.1 Lifestyle systems or a 5.1 Acoustimass home entertainment system and want to send a wireless signal to your speakers?   Then you are in luck, because the Bose SL2 wireless surround link is exactly what you need to blast your high quality audio signal over the 5.8 GHz frequency to your rear speakers.

Who wants to run cables? Running speaker wire is not fun and can get time consuming, expensive and is truly a pain in the rear.  All you have to do is plug the front receiver into the base left and right speakers, plug the rear speakers into the tiny wireless rear receiver and you’re all done, no need to bust out your drill, fish tape, wall plates, make a home depot trip or spend a Saturday running wires.

Both the transmitter and receiver are very small and can easily be hidden. They use RF frequencies so they don’t need to be in line of site which means you can truly hide them. The transmitter has a 6’ cord included with it and requires an AC power source. It has a 3.5mm minijack for the Acoustimass and a switch for the Bose Lifestyle system.

The receiver has a built in amp to boost your rear speakers a bit. The recommended distance the receiver can be from the transmitter is 6’ to 30’.  The receiver does actually come with some speaker wire, in fact it has two 20’ sections you can use. It has a nice little LED light that will turn on when you have power and has a left and right RCA out put on the back of the receiver.

The average reviews are 4 stars because some reviewers failed to read the product description that clearly stated this system ONLY works with the Bose systems and have rated 1 star due to their own ignorance.

  • Frequency Band: 5.8 GHz
  • Transmitter Audio Input Level: compatible with amplifiers rated up to 200W per channel
  • RF Transmit Power: 12 dBm maximum

Transmitter Dimensions:

  • Transmitter Without Cables:
    • Width: 1.997″
    • Height: 4.827″
    • Depth: 4.845″
  • Transmitter With Cables:
    • Width: 1.997″
    • Height: 4.827″
    • Depth: 5.802″

Customer Reviews:

“Without doubt, this is a perfect system when used as designed, within a decent-sized room for a home theatre system. My receiving unit is approximately 15 feet from the broadcast unit.”

Wireless Speaker Technology

Wireless Home Theater

The advancement of technology the last decade has been quite emphatic with newer and more improved versions of things we use everyday. Smart phones and gaming consoles for example are coming out with newer versions constantly compared to the 90′s when newer models came out every two or three years instead of like today, almost every 7 months, a new version or updated version of the item is introduced to the consumer.

One of the great breakthroughs in modern times is coming up with products that are wireless. Let’s face it, how many things have you plugged into your entertainment system and had a mass pile of wires and tried to figure out how to keep them hidden or bundle them neatly? Game consoles are now wireless, lap tops, keyboards and the most recent standing ovation is the wireless speaker.

Besides the frustration of several feet of wire left over after hook-up, wireless speakers take away the connect and disconnect pain when entertaining guests or moving the music to another location. Two big disregards that are wrong about wireless speakers is people tend to think they are going to spend a lot on batteries and the volume may suffer more compared to a conventional speaker. Neither one of these accusations is true. The speakers run on rechargeable batteries and the signal is stronger since there are no wires to touch metal. The old way, the wires had to be heavy gauge, made of either gold or some metal that wouldn’t corrode with age which lead to loss of peak performance.

Wireless speakers for an entertainment system (TV, dvd, receiver, stereo, surround sound) just add to the enhancement of your listening or watching pleasure. No matter how big or small your budget is, you can get a good, decent set from Sony, Logitech for a small price or go a bit on the upper end and grab a few speakers from Bose or Rocketfish. The new technology with HDTV and digital outputs for channels and movies (HD or Blu-Ray), makes quite a remarkable impact once you hook your wireless speakers up. Recommendations would be a receiver, a home theater system with wireless surround sound with an included subwoofer and a way you can alternate each source you’re going to use without any of the wires to hook up. Imagine being able to switch from satellite to your stereo to the DVD or TV without worrying about having separate speakers or systems to hook up to.

Give it about 20 years, everything you normally use everyday just might be wireless!
